When the  crisis hit the world economy in  Sep - Oct 2008 one surprising fallout was that the US dollar  appreciated.  That was a temporary phenomenon caused by US financial institutions pulling out their money from overseas.  Now that phase is over and we seem to have approached Payback Time.   See
