[sharetrading] Tyre Sector [1 Attachment]

[Attachment(s) from ekam ber included below]

Tyre Sector

Pricing discipline - The differentiator

We expect a re-rating of the tyre sector over the next few quarters, as concerns on the earnings front are put to rest. The current valuations of tyre companies indicate expectations of a sharp earnings decline (atleast 40%) in FY11E due to concerns on rising raw material prices (rubber prices only 7% below its previous peak) and capacity additions (affecting pricing power). The markets seem to be factoring in a repeat of the FY03-05 period, where profitability was significantly affected due to the above factors. EBIDTA margins declined by 410 bps to 6% and net profits declined by a CAGR of 22% during FY03-05.

While we share concerns on the rising raw material prices, we believe that pricing discipline will be the biggest differentiator. The industry has shown good pricing discipline since FY06. It should be noted that during FY06-FY08, the EBIDTA margins expanded by 500 bps to 11% and net profits increased at a 77% CAGR. This was despite a sharper increase (1.1x) in the rubber and oil prices during FY06-FY08 vis- -vis FY03-FY05. Even in FY09, when there was a drop in volumes, (resulting in lower capacity utilization), pricing witnessed an uptrend.

We do not expect the ambitious capex plans during FY09-FY13 (gross block to increase by ~58%) to adversely impact tyre pricing as the expansion is more of a necessity than an option. Capacity addition during FY09-FY13 is mirroring long term growth trends. More importantly, capacity additions will happen in a phased manner and can be curtailed if the situation so warrants.

We consider 1HFY10 profitability as abnormal and hence, are factoring in a drop in earnings of 15% to 25% for domestic business in FY11. Barring a further spike in rubber prices, we believe that earnings would surprise positively.

While all the tyre companies will benefit from pricing discipline, we expect Apollo Tyres (ATL) and JK Tyre (JKT) to outperform as the contribution from their recent international acquisitions become more visible in FY11 and FY12. We are initiating coverage on ATL (BUY) and JKT (BUY). We like ATL for its thirst for market leadership with a clear focus on profitability. We like JKT purely from a valuation view.

RE: [sharetrading] ASSAMCO

Inputs of all kinds are welcome. After all it is up to each of us to make the choice. My advice to all those who are new are to stick to Nifty 100 in early years of trading. At worst 200. I check a little of operation action intra day and delivery positions and do not much go for promoter characters unless public holding is very high (<20%). I try to stick with above average traded scrip’s.

PS: There is a buy call on Sterling Bio in one of the reports Ekam had sent (Public < 7%).

With Obama effect pervading over Copenhagen summit (as expected), there is bound to be a positive reaction in short tern and a negative one in near term after the euphoria is over.

Short positions to be careful above 5000. Close above 5030, reverse positions. Above 5050, strong rally is expected.

Abe

i was holding sterling bio when it was sterling tea :-).

Though it have given very good return to me & my broker always refer to this script as my script ( i am a small investor & not an operator ;-) ) , i am not so optimistic about the management.

I consider Assam tea , sterling tea, Teledata & BSl infotech all in a same category. Though last three has given me good returns still i cant say they are fundamental picks but consider them as a  speculative.

This are my views & i am not a good reader of fundamentals. :-)

Please note I express views on scrip’s in which I have interest:

Typically if anyone holds more then a certain percentage, it will trigger an open offer. But in this case, the holdings are all small. But in days to come, it is a bright candidate for same.

Please visit - http://www.assamco. com/

As per my calculations BV is Rs 13 for a Rs 1 face value. IV is small presently. It has 15000 hectares of land and interests in oil & gas in India and abroad. It is the field of high premium teas.

As per BSE filing for September report - The production of oil and gas at present, has been restricted pending commissioning of gas re-injection project after which the production of oil / oil condensate is expected to increase substantially.

So it is a question of time before the prices spike. Be patient. In my expectation it should happen soon.

------------ --------- --------- --------- --------- --------- --------- --------- --------- --------- --------- --------- --------- --------- --------- --------- --------- -

As for sterlinbio – It has come to this level, almost non-stop from 223. It is on the 5th step down on weekly charts FV is Rs 1. BV – 53. IV – 370. Vis a vis other peers a 50% discount, will value it near Rs 165. Q on Q sales has gone up for last 5 quarters. Employee cost is substantially up last Q. In these days of reduction in employees, this cost moving upward, should indicate value in near term.  Interest costs have trebled. Wonder why? There has been a dilution of equity however, hence the reaction. See filing on BSE for September Q - During the Quarter the Company has issued 964,323 equity shares of Re 1/- each pursuant to conversion of FCCBs.

So in my opinion it will find bottom at worst near 83 if Dec Q is bad even if above matters are not taken into account.

Asaam Co. , despite being from a tea sector which saw a good run up, is still lying low. Mainly because of the concern pertaining to the promoters.

Dear Mr. Abe

If I am not mistaken the share's face value is Re.1 and is a good investment bet in the oil sector also.

Having some shares bought a while ago at 16 - what could be the target expected, technically, please do share if possible.

CMP -18.9 This scrip is showing strength and is a div paying co.

It has conv deb at 23.5 or so. It has higher depreciation indicating investments. Last Dec results were poor. With lower monsoons, tea harvest must be higher, hence this Q results should be better. Public share holding just 20% indicating better interest from FI’s. promoters are foreign holdings.

Presently buy signal is on. SL 17.8

Buy at your risk…… Holding period over 1 month.

Petronet LNG Ltd has set up the country's first LNG receiving and regasification terminal at Dahej, Gujarat and is in the process of building another terminal at Kochi.

The Dahej terminal, which had an initial capacity of 5 million metric tones per annum (MMTPA), has been expanded to 10 MMTPA in the current year. The Kochi terminal will have a capacity of 2.5 MMTPA

Technical view:

*

On the daily chart, the stock has formed a long bullish candle in Tuesday's trade and closed above the previous top, thus forming a higher top. The price rise has come with high volumes signalling positive movement in the stock
*

Petronet LNG has seen accumulation in the range of 62-71 levels in the last few weeks. In the process, it has formed multiple support around 71-69 levels

The stock is currently trading above the 20 days and 50 days Simple moving Average (SMA), which is at 69.5 and 71 levels

Adhunik Metaliks (AML) is an integrated steel and merchant mining company, which has mining reserves of 90 million tonne (MT) in iron ore and 50 MT in manganese ore. The company operates a 4 lakh tonne steel plant and has recently obtained approval for mining iron ore for captive purposes from its captive mine for the steel plant. This is expected to lead to approximate annual savings of ~Rs 25 crore.

The company is also foraying into merchant power generation (initial capacity of 540 MW) through its subsidiary, APNRL and is currently close to finalising the deal on divesting its equity stake in the power venture. Overall, we expect significant value addition to accrue in AML from its merchant mining and power business, going forward.

Technical view:

*

The stock has been forming a higher top and higher bottom on the weekly chart suggesting strength in it
*

During the recent correction, the stock has taken support at 90 levels, which is the previous bottom, thus forming a potential double bottom around those levels that gives a target of 113
*

The stock is currently trading above the 20 days SMA, which is at 98 levels and has acted as a strong support at every correction
