Market Review for 1 Feb 2010

The index has formed a hammer candle-stick pattern at the end of five waves decline, which is a bullish signal for wave two up. The momentum indicators on the daily and weekly charts appear in the sell mode. So, the medium-term trend is down but in the short term the retracement of the fall from 5310-4766 in the form of wave two up is expected. Nifty had closed below its 20 weekly exponential moving average (WEMA) for two consecutive days; this will act as a hurdle going ahead. Rest will depends on Foreign Markets Nifty has also given a negative weekly close, which suggests that wave one down is over. On the monthly chart the Sensex has formed a bearish engulfing pattern, which clearly indicates that the top is in place. The rise in record after record volumes with declining prices too suggest that the medium-term trend is down. In nutshell we revise our short-term bias up for the retracement of wave two.

Mounteverest Trading & Investment Ltd has informed BSE that a meeting of the Board of Directors of the Company will be held on February 03, 2010 to consider issue of bonus shares. Earlier they had announced on 21st January 2010 to decide on the bonus issue in yesterday's meeting.

As we talked about K M Sugar Mill's stock split plans, K.M.Sugar Mills Limited has informed the Exchange that the Board of Directors of the Company in their meeting held on January 29, 2010 has approved to split One Equity shares of Rs. 10/- each in to Five equity shares of Rs. 2 each.

We had announced Unity Infraprojects stock split news on 21st Jan. Unity Infraprojects has informed BSE that the Board of Directors of the Company at its meeting held on January 29, 2010, have approved sub-division (stock split) of existing 1,48,17,476 equity Shares of Rs. 10/- each to 7,40,87,380 equity Shares of Rs. 2/- each (In the ratio of 5 (Five) shares of Rs. 2/- each against 1 (One) share of Rs. 10/- each).

...The company's order backlog is largely made of fixed price contracts and, hence, any upward cost push in construction and input services will impact the margin affecting profitability.... read more

Valuation

In comparison, Sobha Developers quotes at a P/E of 25.9 times of its FY 2009 consolidated earning, and BL Kashyap quotes at a PE of 13.3 times of its FY 2009 consolidated earnings. Though the high margin and high realty business may give a push to the margin and profitability, the asking price seems steep compared to listed realty players as well as EPC service players of similar size.
