Market Commentary

Market rebounds with vengeance

The market rebounded sharply from its biggest three-day decline and posted 703-point gains on strong buying in Realty, Bankex, Metal and CG stocks.

After getting battered for three consecutive sessions, the market made a sharp turn-around today, helped by strong buying in Realty, Bankex, Metal, and capital goods (CG) stocks.

The bounce-back came after a steep fall of over 1,461 points in the market since the downslide began the last Friday.

The market, today, resumed 14 points lower over its last close at 12,948 and the benchmark index faltered under the selling pressure, quickly touching the day's low of 12,823. However, the sentiment turned bullish by afternoon and the Sensex surged 750 points or over 5.50% to touch the day's high of 13,712. The Sensex finally ended the session with gains of 5.42% or 703 points at 13,665, whereas Nifty soared 197 points at 4,093.

Movers & Shakers

Godawari Power & Ispat slipped, despite the report that the company has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with the government of Chhattisgarh.
Vishal Retail inched lower, after the company opened two new showrooms last week.
DLF rallied sharply on announcing that the company will consider and approve buy-back of equity shares of the company.

The market breadth was positive. Of the 2,737 stocks traded on the Bombay Stock Exchange (BSE) 1,586 stocks advanced, 1,094 stocks declined and 57 stocks ended unchanged. All the sectoral indices were back in action and moved up sharply. The BSE Realty Index was the major gainer and rose 12.22%. The BSE Bankex Index jumped 6.02%, the BSE Metal Index added 5.96%, the BSE CG Index gained 5.89% and the BSE IT Index was up 5.77%.

Several index heavyweights notched up significant gains. Among the major gainers, DLF flared up 15.08% at Rs423.95, Reliance Energy zoomed 12.60% at Rs790.50, HDFC shot up by 11.10% at Rs2,039.20, ONGC flared up 8.12% at Rs854.45, Larsen & Toubro vaulted 7.33% at Rs2,297.15, Satyam Computer Services advanced 7.18% at Rs463.30, Jaiprakash Associates scaled up 7.03% at Rs144.70, Mahindra & Mahindra surged 6.57% at Rs469 and Infosys added 6.45% at Rs1,820.60. Other front-line stocks also moved up by 3-6% each. However, ITC & ACC dropped marginally.

Over 3.32 Reliance Natural Resources shares changed hands on the BSE followed by IFCI (2.58 crore shares), Reliance Petroleum (2.08 crore shares), Chambal Fertilisers (1.58 crore shares) and Nagarjuna fertilisers (1.08 crore shares).

DG - U Must Read This ....A True Love Story....!!!

MUST MUST READ:

A boy and a girl were in love.

When the girl's father came to know
about their love, he did not like it at
all, and so began to protest about it.

Now it happened that the two lovers
decided to leave their homes for a happy
future.

The girl's father started searching for
the two lovers but could not find
them .

At last, he accepted their love and
asked them to come back home thru a

local newspaper. Her father said "If
you both come back I will allow you to marry the
guy you love, I accept that you loved
each other truly."

So in this way, their love won and they
returned home.

The couple next day went to town to shop
for the wedding dress. He was dressed
in a white shirt that day. While he was
crossing the road to the other side to
get some drinks for his wife, a car
came and hit him and he died on the spot.

The girl was devastated and lost her
senses. It was only after sometime that
she recovered from her shock.

The funeral and cremation was the very
next day because he had died horribly.

Two nights later, the girl's mother had
a dream in which she saw an old lady.
The old lady asked her mother to wash the blood
stains of the guy from her daughter's
dress as soon as possible. But her
mother ignored the dream.

The next night her father had the same
dream , he also ignored it. Then the
girl had the same dream the next night, she
woke up in fear and told her mother
about the dream. Her mother asked her
to wash the clothes with the blood
stains

immediately.

She washed the stains but some remained.
Next night she again had the same
dream. She again washed the stains but some
still remained. But again the next
night she had the same dream and this
time the old lady gave her a last
warning to wash the blood stain, or
else something terrible would happen.

This time the girl tried her best to
wash the stains, and the clothes
nearly tore, but some stains still remained.

She was very tired.

In the late evening the same day while
she was alone at home, someone knocked
on the door. When she opened the door
she saw the same old lady of her dream
standing at her door. She got very
scared and fainted.

The old lady woke her up... and gave her
a blue object, which shocked the girl.

She asked "What is this...?" The old
lady replied...

Market Commentary

Free fall continues

Selling pressure in most of the frontline counters saw the index dip for the fifth straight session.

Nervousness gripped the market for the third consecutive session, as selling pressure since early trades saw the index remain weak all through the trading session.

Though the Sensex resumed 18 points above its previous close at 13,480 and moved up to touch an early high of 13,614, the market soon snapped gains owing to the emergence of the selling pressure. As correction continued unabated, the index tumbled below the mark to touch the intra-day low of 12,904 by the end of the trade. While the market languished in negative territory through the noon trades, the Sensex signed off the session with losses of 500 points at 12,962. Nifty also ended in the red at 3,897, down 144 points.

Movers & Shakers

Jetking Infotrain edged lower inspite of the report that the company's board has approved issue of bonus shares in the ratio of one new fully paid up equity share of Rs10 each for every two equity shares of Rs10 each.
Hindustan Construction declined in spite of the report that the company has bagged Rs340 crore built-operate-transfers (BOT) project from the National Highway Authority of India (NHAI) to construct Badrapur elevated six-lane highway.

The market breadth was quite weak. Of the 2,724 stocks traded on the BSE, 2,272 stocks declined, while only 406 stocks advanced. 46 stocks ended unchanged. All the sectoral indices ended at lower levels. The BSE Realty index fell 7.21%, the BSE Bankex index dipped 5.62%, the BSE Metal index shed 5.40% and the BSE Auto index was down 4.90%.

Among the draggers, Reliance Infrastructure dropped 11.93% at Rs688, Mahindra & Mahindra shed 10.53% at Rs430, Reliance Communications tumbled 10.26% at Rs392, SBI declined 8.90% at Rs1,007, DLF was down 8.88% at Rs361 and Maruti Suzuki India declined 8.52% at Rs560. ICICI Bank at Rs580.05, Hindalco Industries at Rs132.50, Jaiprakash Associates at Rs131.15, HDFC at Rs1,800, Wipro at Rs413 and Tata Steel at Rs690.25 were down around 5-7% each. NTPC however managed to register decent gains.

Realty stocks came under sharp hammering. HDIL slumped 12.70% at Rs337.95, Phoenix Mill lost 12.40% at Rs136, Ansal Infrastructure declined 10.70% at Rs61.75 and Anant Raj was down 9.09% at Rs124.50. Omaxe, Indiabulls Real Estate, DLF, Sobha Developers, Unitech and Parsvnath dipped 5-8% each.

Over 2.46 crore Sejal Glass shares changed hands on the BSE followed by Reliance Natural Resources (1.61 crore shares), Reliance Petroleum (1.41 crore shares), Ispat Industries (1.07 crore shares) and ICY (1.05 crore shares).
